EVERYONE INCLUDED
The Northstowe Youth Hive is built for every young person in our town. We don’t just tolerate difference; we value it as our community's greatest strength.
We are an independent, secular, and entirely inclusive non-profit charity. Whether it relates to your ethnicity, culture, faith, sexuality, gender identity, neurodivergence, or physical abilities—you belong here. Our mission is to provide safe, energetic spaces where you can turn up exactly as you are, completely free from judgment or barriers.
The Pillars of Our Inclusive Community
Race, Ethnicity & Culture
Northstowe is a beautifully diverse, modern town. We ensure our clubs and activities are culturally welcoming, and we actively celebrate the rich heritage and traditions represented by all our local families.
LGBTQ+ Pride & Identity
We stand firmly with our LGBTQ+ youth. The Hive is a strictly safe, identity-affirming environment where young people of all sexual orientations and gender identities are respected, listened to, and fiercely protected from bullying or prejudice.
Secular & Multi-Faith Respect
We are a secular organisation, not run by or linked to any single religion. However, we deeply respect the importance of faith and spirituality. We offer neutral spaces for all backgrounds and those of no faith. We proactively signpost families to dedicated local faith or cultural hubs when requested.
Neurodiversity & Mental Well-being
Minds work differently, and that's a good thing. We design our clubs and sensory environments to be welcoming to neurodivergent young people (including ADHD, autism, and dyslexia), ensuring activities can be adjusted to fit individual comfort levels.
Accessibility & Physical Inclusion
No one gets left on the sidelines. We work closely with our local venues, like the Unity Centre and Western Park Pavilion, to ensure our services, physical spaces, and digital platforms are structurally and practically accessible to those with disabilities or mobility needs.
Equity & Financial Access
Background or financial circumstance should never dictate a young person's potential. We fight class and economic barriers by keeping our core provisions, resources, and clubs free or low-cost, ensuring equal access for all Northstowe families.
Our Core Stance
Inclusion isn't a checkbox for us; it’s our baseline. We expect every young person, volunteer, and partner service provider to uphold a culture of mutual respect. We actively tear down the social, physical, and financial walls that keep young people from accessing great clubs, sports, and support networks.
Our Line in the Sand
Racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, religious intolerance, or discrimination of any kind is entirely incompatible with the Youth Hive. We hold our staff, volunteers, partners, and members to strict anti-discrimination standards. If it isn't safe for everyone, it isn't a Hive space.
