Step up and Shape Our Town
Northstowe is expanding rapidly. With new neighborhoods, facilities, and families arriving, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a town from the ground up. But a town cannot truly serve its younger residents unless they have a seat at the table.
At Northstowe Youth Hive, our mission is to act as a digital hub and a community space where young people can share ideas, connect, and invest in our community's future. We believe in turning "what if" into "what's next". That is why we are incredibly excited to announce the launch of our brand-new Youth Members Committee.
What is the Youth Members Committee?
This isn't your average after-school club, and it isn't just a talking shop. The Youth Members Committee is a civic incubator. It is a dedicated team of young residents who will gather the thoughts, frustrations, and brilliant ideas of their peers, and take them directly to the people who make decisions in our town.
As a committee member, you will:
- Be the Voice: You will represent the views of your classmates, friends, and fellow residents in local forums.
- Learn the Ropes: Pushing for change takes strategy. We will teach you how community projects work, how local councils operate, and how to successfully campaign for new services.
- Create Real Impact: From planning town-wide events to campaigning for better local facilities, your input will directly shape the future of Northstowe.
Why Should You Apply? If you have ever looked around Northstowe and thought, "We really need a space for X," or "I wish they would change Y," this is your chance to make it happen. You do not need previous experience, perfect grades, or a loud voice to join. We need the "idea generators," the "organizers," the "listeners," and the "planners" to build a balanced, effective team.
A Note for Parents & Guardians
We know that as parents, you want your children to grow up in a town that provides them with safe spaces, engaging activities, and a strong sense of community.
Northstowe Youth Hive is a registered UK charity (Charity No: 1210423) dedicated to empowering young people to have fun, grow together, and lead the change they want to see. The Youth Members Committee is designed to be an enriching, educational experience for your child. By joining, they will develop critical life skills:
- Confidence & Public Speaking: Learning how to articulate ideas and present them to adults and decision-makers.
- Civic Education: Gaining first-hand experience in how local government, community funding, and project management work.
- Teamwork & Empathy: Working alongside a diverse group of peers to understand and represent the wider needs of Northstowe's youth.
